  • sigh... no one wants women of real normal sizes.... I am 5'8 and I can tell you when I was a size 4 or 6 I was anorexic and my body fat percentage was so low I was in amenoria. Even at a size 8 I was down right skeletal.

A 5'10 woman who is a size 6 is not likely healthy.

I am 5'8 size 10/12 and of a perfectly average and healthy weight and size for my height. I was a model and have seen it destroy the self image and health of too many young women.
WHY do we keep perpetuating this unhealthy standard?

If you want a size 4 ask for a woman who is 5'2.... If you want a woman who is 5'10 as for a size 14
    • Amen, sistah! I am on the opposite end, within the weight range and too short. I guess healthy proportional people just aren't hot.
      • Of course, the truly remarkable women are beautiful in body and mind. They posess the creativity ant talent to clothe their glorious, natural forms in playa wear of their own imagining. They have no need for a "playa wear company" that seeks to define them in unrealistic terms, and relieve them of the burden of self expression. In fact, I believe I have an old calendar around here somewhere that features a bevy of beauties, none of whom would fit the casting call, yet all of whom look absolutely FABULOUS wearing personal creations, shared fashions, and found objects of textile art.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the term "playa wear company" more than a little disturbing?

The outfits that are going to be used in the fashion show were made to fit the designer herself so there can only be so much variation in the height and weight from the designer who they were fitted to. It doesnt really have much to do with perfection and unrealistic body types. It has more to do with the fact that we have a very limited selection of what we can put in the fashion show. We are a tiny company and we can just whip out 5 outfits for any size woman that shows up. Our main product does come in extra large and extra small and most of our stuff goes to small and large. Again this is because of the cost of making alot of sizes. Hope that explains! We arent the kind of people who think everyone needs to be perfect. far from it.

Also the reason i posted over here is because I am friends with sassalot and i figured it was safe to post here looking for models.

As far as being a playa wear company - We are Burners who make clothing which appeals to several sub cultures one of which is burning man. That isn't our only focus. We are just making what we think is cool stuff for sub culture people that we couldnt find on the market. Thats how i got into hand painting spinning flags, because I am a flag spinner and I couldnt find any body making them. Same with my partner danielle she couldnt find any black light reactive garter belts so she started making them. Is that so bad?

I don't care if you make playa wear... heck i do.

I AM very offended by you saying you want a size 4 woman who is 5'8 or 5'10. I get you may not have alot of sizes so post we only have sample is these sizes (4,6,8)... but the height in combo with that pushed your post straight over into unrealistic land.

you know and I know that if you have a size 4 out fit and a 5'2 size 4 shows up worse case you do a temp tack on a seam in pre fitting. It takes hardly any time at all and it common.

we have a difference of opinion but I have rather strong feelings on this topic from too many personal experiences

Ok now you left my area of expertise. I am a web guy and a painter, I don't really understand womens sizes. My partner sent me that info and i reposted it. So I can't really defend it without talking to her and asking more specifics. But as far as i can tell we were not asking for a size 4 person who is 5'8 or 5'10 anywhere in my post. As far as i can tell from the post the model could be size 8 and 5'10 or size 4 and 5'6 or size 8 and 5'6. The designer herself falls in this range, and is not especially skinny and its her personal clothes being used in the fashion show.

I am concerned that we are offending anyone as we are just trying to get some models for a 15 minute fashion show thing. Sorry for the trouble. I have your calendar and I think you all are sexy.

                Thank you,
I appreciate your response. I also appreciate that you have admitted you are the web guy and not the designer. It makes a big difference when you have personal knowledge of a thing and when you don't.

Muse darling sorry to bite a messenger again... been starved for blood its been too long. Pirates taste good what can I say?
